Run HedgeDoc with PostgreSQL in one click

Markdown notes you write together in real time: HedgeDoc with its own PostgreSQL database, on its own HTTPS address. Pick the template, name the app and deploy; the database, the session secret and the address are set up for you. Ours was running in 25 seconds.

What you get

HedgeDoc 1 as its makers publish it, with nothing changed.

  • HedgeDoc, the official image
  • Its own PostgreSQL 17 database, connected for you
  • Its own HTTPS address from the first minute
  • Notes in Markdown with the editor and the result side by side: task lists, tables, diagrams and slides
  • Pictures pasted into notes kept on disk across restarts

Deploy it from the template

Sign in, then Stacks, Create, From a template, and pick HedgeDoc + PostgreSQL. Give the app a name. On the database card the username is already yours and the password is made for you if you leave it empty; both are under Connection details on the stack page afterwards. Press Deploy, check the summary, then Confirm and deploy. There is no setup page: HedgeDoc is ready when it starts.

Write your first note

Open the app's address and press New guest note, or Sign In and register an account so your notes stay in your history. Write Markdown on the left and see the result on the right; everyone with the note open sees each change as it is typed.

Share it

The app starts private: only you can open it. Switch it from Private to Public on the stack page, then send people a note's link. A new note can be edited by anyone who has its link; each note's permission (top right of the note) can be changed to editable only by signed-in people, or by you alone.

Questions people ask

Can I run HedgeDoc without setting up a server?

Yes. Uppcoder starts HedgeDoc and its PostgreSQL database for you from a template, on its own HTTPS address. There is no server, Docker or database to set up yourself.

Does it come with a database?

Yes, its own PostgreSQL 17 database, connected for you. You choose its username and password, or let Uppcoder make the password.

Can several people edit the same note at once?

Yes, that is what HedgeDoc is for: everyone with the note open sees each change as it is typed.

Shared notes and their database, live in seconds. Uppcoder is not affiliated with the HedgeDoc project.
